Create and Teach World History

(Summary Page)

(createandteach)

Current resources:

We have a 590-page paperback book in the English language titled Five Epochs of Civilization: World History as Emerging in Five Civilizations by William McGaughey (Thistlerose Publications, 2000).

We have a 260-page paperback book in the English language titled Rhythm and Self-Consciousness: New Ideals for an Electronic Civilization by William McGaughey (Thistlerose Publications, 2001). This is a companion book to Five Epochs of Civilization written from a philosophical standpoint. It shows how ideals and values change when the culture shifts from a basis in written language to electronic recording and broadcasting of sights and sounds.

We have the translation of Five Epochs of Civilization into Chinese and its publication by the Shandong Pictorial Publishing House of Jinan, Shandong Province, China. The translated book was that firm's top seller in the area of history for 2004.

We have the web site located at http://www.worldhistorysite.com in English and several other languages.

We have the intangibles of reputation from book reviews, conferences, classroom use, and word of mouth during the time since the book was originally published.

What's next?

This section of the web site is about possibilities for expanding awareness of world history through the resources mentioned above or through other resources not mentioned. The creation of world history is necessarily a collaborative venture. Teaching this subject is one of its principal applications, but not the only one. We invite reaction to the ideas being presented, constructive criticisms and suggestions, or, in fact, any thoughtful response.
